Robert David Rose

Robert David Rose, age 85 of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Col. Robert L. Howard State Home in Pell City, Alabama. Robert was born on November 4, 1939, in Decherd, to the late William "Bill" and Eunice (Clark) Rose. He served his country for twenty-two years as a decorated Army officer. During his military career, he earned his master's degree from Baylor University in the health care field. He was hospital administrator for Winn Army Hospital in Ft. Stewart, Methodist Hospital in Winchester, and Sewanee Emerald Hodgson Nursing Home. He then operated Rose Acres for fifteen years, raising milk goats and bottle calves. Robert served his Franklin County community for eight years as a county commissioner. In his spare time, you could find him fishing, hunting, watching Alabama football and westerns. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Joe Michael Rose, and sister, Billye Jean Rose Goff. Robert is survived by his sons, David (Jenny) Rose and Chris (Carol) Rose; grandchildren, Ashley Rose (Greg) Horne, Ryan Rose, Amy Rose (Joel) Warren, Dr. Rachel Rose (Justin) Graber, Nathan (Nadia) Rose, Leah Rose (Andrew) Cantey; great-grandchildren, Lily Rose, Lucy Warren, Miles Rose, Lincoln Horne, Reid Warren, Sullivan Horne, Alley Cantey, Josiah Rose, and Caleb Graber; brother, Thomas (Linda) Rose; mother of his children and wife of fifty-six years, Jeanette Brandon Rose; nieces, Rajeana Lammers, Joy Conway, Jennifer Kilpatrick, and Lara Medley; nephews Col (Ret.) Bill Rose, and Thomas Rose; longtime friend, Bill Deacon; and many cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Thad Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Mt.
