LAMONTE J. GRAY

September 28, 1977 – January 21, 2026

Lamonte J. Gray was a man whose presence filled every room he entered. With a personality bigger than life and a smile that was always warm and inviting, Lamonte had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His passion for sports was never-ending, and his competitive spirit and love for the game followed him from youth into adulthood.

Lamonte graduated from Franklin County High School, where he excelled in athletics and formed lifelong bonds. He built a strong work ethic through years in manufacturing before ultimately finding his stride in construction in Nashville, Tennessee-a trade that reflected his hands-on nature and determination.

Above all else, Lamonte's greatest accomplishment and deepest pride were his three children. They were the center of his world and the legacy he cherished most. His life was marked by profound heartbreak with the loss of his middle son, Marcè Andre Gray, on August 11, 2021-a loss he carried quietly and bravely.

Lamonte leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Joy A. Gray; his children, Miah Alize` Gray and Montez Andrew Gray; his cherished granddaughter, ZaRyiha Zachari Gray; and the mother of his children, Natalie Robinson Gray. He is also survived by his aunt, Lynell Gray; his uncle, Thomas (Regina) Gray; his cousin and brother at heart, Michael (Stephanie) Gray; his grandmother, Nellie M. Bodenhamer; and a host of relatives and friends.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the family finds comfort in knowing that Lamonte is now resting and soaring-reunited with his son Marcè. Together again, they are at peace.

Lamonte J. Gray was greatly loved and will be deeply missed, but his spirit, smile, and legacy will live on in all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 3:00pm. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home 300 1st Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com
