Mrs. Shirley A. (Eckard) Cumm, age 93, a lifelong Little Falls resident, beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Cumm went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday evening, July 23, 2023 at St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded with the love, support and strength of her loving family.
Shirley was born on November 24, 1929, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Raymond and Thelma (Andrilla) Eckard and she received her education in Little Falls schools. She was united in marriage with Raymond Earl Cumm on Sept. 24, 1949 at St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls, a loving and devoted union of 32 years, until his passing on Feb. 23, 1983. Shirley was a devoted mother and loved staying home to take care of her family. She was a devout Catholic belonging to St. Joseph's Church, then Holy Family Parish, Little Falls.
Survivors include her devoted and loving family; her children, Allen Cumm and wife Kathy of Colorado Springs, CO, John Cumm and Theresa Palumbo of Oppenheim, Kevin Cumm of Little Falls, Jeffrey Cumm and wife Marie of Dolgeville, Brian Cumm and fiance Tammie of Little Falls and Lisa LaCoppola and husband Stephen of Dolgeville; cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Gavin (Sarah), Nicole (Nick), Richelle (Brian), Brian (Kristin), Amberlyn (Tim), Gregory (Liz), Carrin (Andy) and Dominic, seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the locally owned and operated Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls, 315-508-5131 from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Shirley's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Thursday, July 27th from the chapel of MVFC where prayer will be offered and at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Brian Slezak, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest, with her husband. Kindly consider memorial contributions to Holy Family Parish. Shirley's family would like to offer their gratitude to the entire staff on the 1st floor at St.Luke's Healthcare for their kindness and compassion.
