Shirley DaSilva, 97, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, at The Greens at Cannondale, in Wilton, CT. Born on May 9, 1927, in New York City, she lived a vibrant life filled with love and service.
Shirley was a small woman with a huge, dynamic personality. She was the most loving, kind, and generous mother that any child would be lucky to have. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jennifer Magnone; son Joseph DaSilva (Deborah); and her beloved grandchildren: Jaime DaSilva Flanagan (Brenainn), Brian DaSilva (Ilana), Allison DaSilva Kohn (Jon), Gregory DaSilva (Natalia), David DaSilva (Ava), and Peter Magnone (Sarah). She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Rowan, Daniel, Darby, Blake, Donovan, Hunter, Juliette, Lucas, Christian and Jack. In addition, Shirley is survived by her niece, Camille Montuoro (Arthur), and nephews Carl Velloza (Diane) and Peter Velloza (Christine) as well as their families. Shirley was the heart of our family, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void.
Shirley had a remarkable career at Bloomingdale's in New York City, where she dedicated nearly 30 years to customer relations in the furniture department, earning numerous awards for her exemplary service. She loved to sing and, at an early age, showcased her talent by singing on the radio, a passion that reflected her love for life. Known for her keen eye for beauty, she adored shopping, jewelry, and anything that sparkled, which brought her immense joy.
A private funeral service for family members will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY, on Friday, October 18, 2024.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
