Shirley Donham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Services of East Alabama, Inc. - Anniston on Feb. 17, 2026.
Shirley Donham, 76, a trailblazer, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Shirley was proudly recognized as the first female machine tool operator at the Anniston Army Depot, where she broke barriers and paved the way for women in skilled trades. Through her determination, skill, and unwavering work ethic, she earned the respect of her colleagues and left a lasting mark on the depot's history.

After retiring, Shirley loved relaxing on her patio, watching her hummingbirds and admiring her flowers, finding joy in the beauty of nature. She was also deeply intrigued by the British royal family, following their lives closely and building an extensive collection of royal memorabilia.

A lifelong fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Shirley's love for football was fierce, and she never missed a chance to cheer for her team.

Shirley's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a loving, supportive, and steadfast mother and grandmother who instilled in them the values of integrity, independence, and compassion.

She is survived by her daughters, Candace Rayborn (David) and Amanda Gonzalez (Kevin); her cherished grandchildren, Elijah Rayborn and Olivia Rayborn; her sisters, Patricia Williams and Juanita Schiele; along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Pratt and Corine Pratt; her brother, Robert Pratt Jr.; and her sister, Gladys Jones.

Shirley will be remembered for her resilience, kindness, pioneering spirit, and her love for the simple pleasures in life-gardens, hummingbirds, football, and her collections. Her legacy is one of courage, dedication, and love.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Cremation Services of East Alabama on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Pallbearers will be River Kiener, Willie Welch, Frankie Jones, Ed Brown, Scott Adams, Kevin Gonzalez.
