Shirley G. Eaton

Former Sequim resident Shirley G. Eaton, 89, died September 30, 2025, surrounded by her family, in Seattle, WA. She was born February 2, 1936 in Schenevus, NY to Wendell and Ruth Gladstone.

After moving with her family to Arizona, she graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1958. She married John B. Eaton in 1961 and moved with him to Kingman, AZ, and then Kodiak, AK, before eventually settling in Sequim in 1988.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Ruth Gladstone, her husband, John B. Eaton and her sister, Marguerite Hart.

Shirley is survived by her children, Diane (Scott) Ziegler of Everett, WA, Mark (Michele) Eaton of Covington, WA, Scott Eaton (Jamie Carpenter) of Bellingham, WA and Wendy (Bill) Gehring of Seattle, WA.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Barry (Marine) Ziegler, Doug (Shannon) Ziegler, Taryn Ziegler, Matt (Carissa) Eaton and Elizabeth Eaton (Ethan Wunschel) and great-grandchildren, Ruby and Zoe Ziegler and Caden Eaton.

She is also survived by sisters Virginia Watson, Carolyn Cameron and her childhood friend of 84 years, Jeanne France, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 925 North Sequim Avenue in Sequim, WA on October 25th, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
