Shirley Ann Edgeberg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10th at her home in hospice care with her family at her side.
Shirley was born on January 22, 1934, to Otto and Anna (House) Burck. At 91 years old, she was an amazing, active, and hard-working woman all of her life.
She married Thor Edgeberg on December 17th, 1949. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in December 2014 with their family before Thor passed away.
In her earlier years, Shirley worked as a dental assistant. Through the years, Shirley was a devoted partner. They owned and operated the Ozark Root Beer Stand and the Skate Shop. Shirley also took care of several rental properties and supported Thor in his insurance agency for 33 years.
Long before jogging was a popular sport, Shirley started running and completed several marathons. As an exceptional homemaker, she took care of Thor and the homestead. She made wonderful every day and holiday meals. She cooked and baked for family, friends, and neighbors. She was known for her homemade cupcakes, cookies, and delicious English toffee.
In later years, Shirley was a member and volunteered at the Senior Center. She lived independently for the last ten years and enjoyed being outdoors raking, sweeping the driveway, and walking. She relaxed watching the deer, the squirrels, and the clouds.
Shirley loved to share that she was born again on August 24, 1971, and committed her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved the Lord and loved to share about His Love for her. She was a faithful prayer warrior and prayed daily for everyone in her twenty-page prayer journal. She recently wrote: "Don't weep for me. I'm more alive than ever." She is now in heaven with her Lord and loving husband Thor.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband Thor, and her parents, Otto and Anna Burck. She was the youngest of nine siblings and the last to join them in Heaven. Kenneth (Emma), Loretta Steinmeyer (Telmer), Mavis Phillips (Jesse), Irma Burns (Jim), Otto Junior, DeWayne (Janice), Leland, and Mildred Lowman (Archie).
