HANOVER CHAPEL
Mrs. Shirley A. Firth Varble, age 88 of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on January 7, 1936 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late John Lawrence "Jack" and Lillian Bessie Scholl Firth. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, she graduated from Madison High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to William Lewis Varble and this union was blessed with two daughters, Pam and Darcy, and three sons, John Markt, Donald William and David. Her husband died on October 22, 1970. Shirley retired from the Madison State Hospital in 1998 after 22 years of service as a psychiatric attendant. She was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. She enjoyed mowing the lawn, crocheting, reading, sitting on her front porch, and watching Indiana University basketball. She was a devoted Mom, loving Grandma, MawMaw, Great Grandma, GMA, Sister and friend. Shirley was excited knowing she had another great grandchild to be born in December 2024. A LOVING FAMILY
Shirley will be missed by her loving daughters, Pam Dyer and her husband Larry of Madison, Indiana, Darcy Varble Sommermeyer and her husband, Jim of Jeffersonville, Indiana; her loving sons, John Markt Varble and his wife Paula of Deputy, Indiana, Donald William Varble of Madison, Indiana, David Varble and his wife Stephanie of Hanover, Indiana; her grandchildren, Ryan Varble, Trent Dyer (Brittany), Brendon Varble (Alisha), Emily Varble, Andrew Varble; her step grandchildren, Kim Bennett (Gary), Sabrina Dyer Schreck (Jim); her great grandchildren, Alexa Bennett, Gabriel Bennett, Alex Varble, Henry Varble, Charlotte Varble, Olivia Varble, Olivia Schreck, Penelope Schreck, and Brigham Schreck; her sisters, Carolyn Firth of Madison, Indiana, Bev Armstrong and her husband, Bob of Madison, Indiana, Jan Melton and her husband, Jim of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, John Lawrence "Jack" Firth, died November 2, 1990, her mother, Lillian Bessie Scholl Firth, died December 2, 1999, her husband, William Lewis Varble, died October 22, 1970, her sister, Linda Kay Firth, died June 6, 1944, her brother, Donald Robert Firth, died August 20, 2018 and his wife Linda, died April 25, 2024; her father in law, Duard Carroll Varble, died May 29, 2007 and her mother in law, Cecile O. Smith Varble, died April 17, 2012.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Cemetery near Hanover, Indiana. TO WATCH THE FUNERAL LIVE CLICK HERE
VISITATION
Friends may visit Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana.
