Shirley Janette (Voice) Fithian, 95, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Bell Oaks Place in Newburgh IN., with her family by her side.
She was born in Du Quoin IL, on November 19, 1929, to the late William Henry & Nina (Boll) Voice. In addition to being a loving homemaker, Shirley was a wonderfully gifted singer who began singing solos in church at an early age. Everyone who met her was instantly enamored by her sweet disposition and friendly demeanor. Her friends and family remember her for her strong Christian values and her genuine compassion for everyone. After graduating high school from Du Quoin (Illinois) High School, Shirley worked in Chicago and would later marry her husband, Gene Fithian, in 1948. His career would take them to several towns in Illinois and Indiana where she would be in charge of relocating the family home and integrating the family into the new community. Later, she would be a part of her husband’s consulting business that would take them to South Africa, Suriname, England and to several other states around the country.
Shirley is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Beverly of Rockwall, Texas and Don and Karen of Newburgh. She is also survived by her grandchildren - Grant and Allison Fithian of Rockwall, Texas, Jessica and Richard Mount of Newburgh, Joshua Fithian of Tennyson, Tom Fithian of Newburgh, Charles and Sara Fithian of Newburgh, Chris Moore of Marbella, Spain and Dennis and Robyn Bryant of Rockwall, Texas and her great-grandchildren Olivia, Arthur, Luke and Lucy Fithian; Madison, Zach, Jay and Braeden Galloway; Kody and Riley Mount; Mekenzie Mahan; Lola Moore; Izzy, Julie, Hayden and Mollie Ives; and great-great granddaughter Norah Jane Galloway.
