Shirley Fleishman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Springer and Son - Aloha Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 29, 2026.
Shirley Jean Fleishman, age 98, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on 3/20/2026.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer J, and Clematis B, Grissom and her loving husband of 59 years, William H (Bud) Fleishman (deceased 6/24/2006). Shirley is survived by her daughter Kathleen C Honeycutt (Thomas) of Hillsboro, Oregon, and son John A Fleishman (Leslie) of Dayton, Ohio as well as granddaughters Kristen Ballard (Gabe), Kimberly Moroney (Nathan), and Madisen Ziesemer (Kevin) and great grandchildren, Caden, Paige, and Adam Ballard, Audra and Maren Moroney, and Zoey Ziesemer.

Shirley was raised in Santa Cruz California. She met the love of her life, William (Buddy) Fleishman, on New Year's Eve of 1944. Shirley and Bud were married on 8/31/1945 and lived in Sacramento from 1947 to 2005 wherein they moved to Hillsboro, Oregon.

Shirley was gifted with a near holographic memory for all events in her life. She possessed keen insight into all events she experienced and witnessed, both personal and public. She was kind and loving to those she met. Honesty and instantaneous humor made her a treasured friend, and many sought her advice and counsel.

She could, and frequently did, talk up a storm. For Shirley talking was an aerobic exercise.
She was never boring and always interested and effortlessly retained the most minute details of the lives of those with whom she conversed.
A conversation with Shirley was usually light and entertaining or, occasionally an experience akin to a legal deposition.
A brilliant and funny companion always, she will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched.
