Shirley Ann Flowers, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 88 in Chowchilla, California with her family by her side.
Born December 24, 1936, in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, Shirley was one of ten children raised by her parents, Martin and Onie Irene Sistrunk. She enjoyed a joyful childhood filled with lasting memories alongside her siblings. Shirley graduated as valedictorian of her senior class, proudly served as president of the FHA (Future Homemakers of America), setting the tone for a lifetime of dedication and achievement.
She started working at First National Bank in Altus, Oklahoma, before moving to Delhi, California with her husband, Jack L. Flowers Jr., and their son Michael in 1964. There, she started a 32-year career in the Human Resources department with Armour Food Company, later ConAgra, where she remained until her retirement in 1997.
Shirley lived a life of service and community. She volunteered for over a decade at Emanuel Medical Center in
Turlock, California, was an active member of the Delhi Senior Club. She was an avid bowler, where she participated in several leagues and was known for her competitive spirit and love of the game.
In her free time, she loved camping, fishing, reading, bowling, and playing bingo. Her family fondly remembers her as the family's spirited debater, always ready for a lively conversation. Above all, Shirley treasured every moment with her family and friends, building a life full of laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Flowers Jr.; her granddaughter, Amy Flowers; her parents, Martin and Onie Irene Sistrunk; her brothers Van, Tony, Billy Wayne, James, Donald, and her twin brother Jimmy Sistrunk; and her sisters Vera Robinson, Joyce Cox, and Doris Sarah Callens.
She leaves behind her loving sons, Michael Flowers (Renee) of Panama, Oklahoma, and Kim Flowers (Stephanie) of Chowchilla, California.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Jr. of Shady Point, OK; Traca Immel (Dustin) of Aurora, CO; Dannielle Johnson (Jonathan) of Modesto, CA; Amy Borba of Stayton, OR; Zachary Borba of Irwin, PA; Tyler Gomez of Crescent, PA; Kelci Flowers of Atwater, CA; and Shyanne Borba of Chowchilla, CA.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Brianna Mitchell and Grant Mitchell of Panama, OK; Michael III, William, and Juliette Iris Flowers of Shady Point, OK; Levi, Owen, and Alex Donahue, Madison Lyon (Nicholas), Devin Immel and Shelby Immel of Aurora, CO; Maylee and Laina Borba of Chowchilla, CA; Emerson Witt of Stayton, OR; Nova Borba of Irwin, PA and Baby Johnson expected in November.
Shirley was also blessed to be a great-great-grandmother to Brian and Peter Sanders of Panama, OK, Willow and Charlie Lyon of Aurora, CO with another great-great-grandchild, Baby Sanders expected in September.
Shirley is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Shirley's strength, warmth, and unconditional love will live on through the many generations of her family. She touched countless lives with her kindness and spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Turlock, CA 95380. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Following the services, Shirley will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.
