Shirley Mae (Beck) Fritz, 93, of Freeport Illinois, transitioned peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1931. She was married to Paul Kenneth Fritz on September 20, 1952. Shirley was well known as the lady behind the front counter of Spurgeon's Department Store. Her later years were spent as a paraprofessional for the Freeport School District. Shirley's family was her pride and joy and she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time attending her grandchildren's activities, helping her friends, playing any kind of game and volunteering through RSVP. The last several years she enjoyed her time at Heritage Woods.
Shirley is survived by her son Donald Fritz (Colin Kellaway), daughters Pam (Randy) Werntz, Paula (Doug Toepfer) Meighan, Penny (Rod Cameron) Groshans and Peggy (Scott) Tell. She also has 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way). She will be joyfully reunited with her husband Paul, two sons Randy and Mike and her mother Mary Beck.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, Il, from 1:00-3:30 pm. A private burial will be held later at Daysville Cemetery in Oregon Il. A memorial has been established for RSVP.

Shirley was a super mom and a sweet lady my mother was friends with her and I was friends with her children living outside Oregon I´ll and then years later catching up with her and her family outside German valley I´ll what great memories .. hugs to the family .. you surly be missed

To the Lady bug Lady family Shirley was a blessing to me I love talking to her as I cleaned her room at HW . She loved my laugh you could talk to her about anything no judgement Shirley was wonderful to are staff she was everyone's friend we all had great respect for her She was so appreciative any thing you did for her If I was having a bad she always made it better she was more than a resident she was my friend I loved her and had the upmost respect for her I always teased her about her daily elderberry syrup. So sorry for your great loss cannot put into words it is a great loss but heavens gain she has mansion full of gold lady bugs . Deepest sympathy Tammy
