In Loving Memory of Shirley Raye Grubb
Shirley Raye Grubb, age 79, passed away on December 10, 2025, following a long illness. She was born on November 27, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of Omer Mays and Vonda (Clark) Mays.
Early Life and Career
Shirley grew up in Lexington, KY. She retired from Bank One, where she dedicated many years as a bank teller. She was a lover of books, crafting, quilting and oil painting. She enjoyed being with family and playing cards, especially pinochle and canasta.
Family
Shirley was married to the late Arthur Grubb for 50 years. Together, they had three children:
· Shannon Monroe and her husband, Sid Monroe, of Georgetown, KY
· Jeffery D. Grubb of Lexington, KY
· Melissa Gilliam and her husband, Shawn Gilliam, of Georgetown, KY
She was also the proud grandmother of four
· Cameron Grubb
· Regan Gilliam
· Raven Gilliam
· Joey Monroe
Surviving Family and Loved Ones
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Omer and Vonda Mays and one sister, Delores Scott. She is survived by three sisters:
· Lois Smith of Lexington, KY
· Judy Jasper of Bryantsville, KY
· Bonnie Cecil of Pleasantview, TN
She also leaves behind several nephews.
Services
A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A committal service in honor of Shirley's life will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Lexington Cemetery.
Pallbearers
The pallbearers will be Jeff Grubb, Sid Monroe, Cameron Grubb, Shawn Gilliam, Bo Smith, and Jeff Jasper. Honorary pallbearers include Rick Cecil and Tom Jasper.
