Mrs. Shirley Little Haigler, 89, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025 after an extended illness.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James Moses and Lela Bell Little, as well as an infant daughter, Shirley Anne, and siblings Gene Little, Jolene Rushing and Dennis Little.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Aubrey Haigler, and their three children: Perry Michael Haigler, Penny Haigler Tomberlin, Ronnie Wesley Haigler and wife, Paula, all of Monroe. Shirley had 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are: brother, James Watt Little and wife, Alice, and sisters Patsy Moore and Edith Rushing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Rd. Monroe, NC 28110, officiated by Rev. Travis Hutcheson and Rev. Justin Nash. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Gordon Funeral Service & Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
Shirley graduated from Fairview High School in 1954. She worked for a few years at Roses department store in Monroe but was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a gifted seamstress.
Ma-maw Shirley will be remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for her end-of-school year pizza parties and annual Christmas cookie baking celebrations.
The family would like to acknowledge Union County’s Atrium Hospice, Council on Aging, and Senior Nutrition Program, as well as in-home caregivers Tana and Amy, for their assistance in caring for Shirley.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Shiloh Advent Christian Church 'Cemetery Fund", 3601 Sikes Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110.
