SHIRLEY MCCOY HAND

TROY… Shirley McCoy Hand, a resident of Troy, Alabama, formerly of Headland, Alabama passed away Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2024, at her home. She was 79.

 Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating. Her son, JJ Hand will give a eulogy. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Cemetery in Troy, Alabama, 1621 US-29 Troy, Alabama 36079.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

 Mrs. Hand was born in Newville, Alabama to the late O.K. McCoy and Robbie Lee White McCoy. She was a graduate of Newville High School. She owned and operated Pet Grooming by Hand for sixteen years. She loved her some Auburn. The lights of her eyes were her grandkids and great-grandkids. She could be seen often riding the golf cart with her husband, Jackie. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the Overflowing Ministries. Her favorite spot was on her new back porch, that her son (J.J.) and grandson (Davey) built for her. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church where she was very active and sang in the church choir.

 Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Gayla Hand White; and her brothers, Fred McCoy, Bobby McCoy, and Larry McCoy.

 Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband of 62 years, Jackie Hand; her son; J.J. Hand (Brandy); her son-in-law, Eddie White; her brother, Tommy McCoy (Rosa); her grandchildren, Davey Jones (Brooke), Kaylee Davis (Jim), Addison Hand, and Conner Hand; her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Jones, Waylon Jones, Weston Jones, Jaelynn Nelson, and Nora Hand; and her several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Serving as active pallbearers will be Ted McCoy, Bobby McCoy, Scott Shelley, Addison Hand, Conner Hand, Davey Jones, and Jim Davis.
