Shirley Holloway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cox Funeral Home - Manchester on Feb. 10, 2026.
Shirley Ann Holloway, 76, of Jackson, Georgia passed away Saturday January 31st, 2026 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, Georgia after a long battle with varying ailments. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.

Shirley was born December 30th, 1949 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to Lula Roland Bates and Dillard Bates. She grew up in Tennessee before moving to Georgia where she settled with her family.

Shirley was a dedicated mother, wonderful friend, and faithful wife. The thing that brought her the most joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her beloved title as "Nanny." The look on her face was utter heaven when she was around them. But a close second was her trips to her favorite casinos. It didn't matter if it was Tunica to Biloxi, she would sit at her favorite slot machine and have the time of her life.

Shirley is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Joe Holloway; daughter, Charlene Beeler; and brothers, Charlie Bates, Jimmy Bates and Sonnie Bates.

She is survived by her son Chuck (Nichole) Beeler; siblings, Martha Mires, Paula (Harry) Halcome, Linda Brazier, Shirley Bates and Marsh Walp; beloved grandchildren, Danny (Hillary) Flynn, Colton (Ashley) Beeler, Marisa Beeler, Michael Beeler and Mia Beeler; great-grandchildren, Cal Flynn, Elsie Flynn, Rylan Huck, and Maverick Huck; a host of extended family and friends; and her beloved pups, Pepper and Trixie.

A special thanks to all the healthcare providers, friends and family that helped her in times of need.

A memorial service will be held at Cox Funeral Home in Manchester, Georgia at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley loved flowers and plants, donations in her memory can be made to Brightmoor Hospice, a local animal shelter, or St. Judes Children Research Hospital.
