Shirley Horton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duffy-Poule Funeral & Cremation Services - Attleboro on Feb. 12, 2026.
Shirley R. Horton, a loving mother, creative spirit, and witty humorist, passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on January 30, 1943, in New London, CT, Shirley was the loving wife of forty-seven years to the late Robert J. Horton, Sr.

Shirley spent her life bringing joy to those around her. She was a fiercely loving woman who always stood up for what was right. As an advocate for children, Shirley taught CCD and used her voice to help others. She worked in the office at Balfour, and embraced her role with dedication and determination. Shirley's love for reading, learning, and writing was a testament to her creative spirit. She had a keen sense of humor, which she used to make others laugh, and in turn, it made her laugh too. Shirley's family was her greatest joy, and she always put them first.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Robert J. Horton, Jr. of Lexington, NC, David J. Horton and his wife Sandra E. of Attleboro and Dan G. Horton and his wife Renee of NH; siblings, Roger E. Corriveau, and Jane L. Corriveau; her loving grandchildren: Adam, Brittany, Heather, Anissa, Amanda, Miranda, Mark, Isaac, Gabrielle, Naomi and Matthew; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Each one can attest to her humorous and loving nature, often being the recipient of her funny lines.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is predeceased in death by her beloved son Michael J. Horton; and her parents, Antoine and Antoinette (Savoie) Corriveau; as well as her brothers, Girard R. Corriveau and Arthur Joseph Corriveau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, located at 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will take place at a later date. The services are under the care of Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA.

A celebration of life service will be held in April 2026 with a date to be determined.

We encourage friends and loved ones to share their memories and upload photos of Shirley to her memorial page. These cherished moments will serve as a tribute to her loving, funny, and witty spirit.

My deepest condolences to Shirley´s family... Shirley was a sweet, kind & funny person. I was her homemaker every Wednesday. I would help tidy up her house, do her laundry & do her groceries. Even chased her dog, Bentley around the house to get him in the cage. Sometimes we just talk like we´re each other´s therapist. She´s an inspiring woman. She definitely was a loving person. She always likes to treat me for lunch or a coffee. I will remember this lovely lady forever. May she rest in peace with her lovely husband who she missed so much.
