Shirley Joyce Howell

On October 31, 2023, Shirley Joyce Howell died in Littleton, CO at the age of 96.
Joyce is survived by her three daughters, Ruth Garretson, Becky Berg, Rachel Maher, her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and her sister, Eunice Apps. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Howell.
Joyce was born on December 20, 1926 in Sault Ste Marie, Onterio, Canada. Became a Christian when she was a teenager and went on to graduate from Prairie Bible Institute in 1954 in Alberta Canada.
Joyce married Roy Howell in 1957 while both were working at Prairie Bible Institute. Due to dating rules, Roy proposed in a letter. They welcomed Ruth in 1958 and the twins in 1960. After moving to the United States she became a naturalized citizen in 1976. In her early years she worked as a secretary, then became a stay at home mom and finished her career as a Food Service Manager in the school systems. She loved to share her gift of singing and enjoyed singing with small ensembles and in a trio at First Christian Church (Englewood Bible Church). She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A grave side memorial service for Joyce Howell is scheduled for 1:00 pm on November 17, 2023 at Olinger Chapel Hill cemetery in Centennial, CO.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Nourish Meals on Wheels in Littleton, CO 80122, which was a huge blessing to her for the past 13 years.
