Mrs. Shirley A. Hunter, age 75 of Royston, passed peacefully on May 2, 2024. She was born on July 5, 1948 in Royston Georgia to the late Garfield Thomas and Ida Mae (Oliver) Thomas. She was employed with Johnson & Johnson. She attended Royston Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and time with family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Lucille Geter, Sally Jane Thomas, O'Neal Thomas, and Garfield Thomas, Jr. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Mildred Hunter (Chad) of Elberton, Steven Hunter of Royston, Sharon Hunter of Royston, and Mark Hunter (Cynthia) of Carnesville, her siblings; CJ Thomas, Betty Scott (Jimmy), Marie Thomas, Jeannette Thomas, and Matthew Geter and eight grandchildren; Melissa Stowers, Shavonna Hunter, Jonathan Merritt, Azenderia Hunter, Keleshia Allen, Stephanie Hunter, Mattavius Scott, Donithon Fortson, a host of great grandchildren, and a special great grandchild raised in the home, Jane Anna Stowers. 

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens in Canon, Georgia. She will lie in state Sunday afternoon 3-5 at the funeral home.
