Shirley L. Johnes

Shirley L. Johnes, 94, of Rushville, IL passed away at 6:06 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024 at her residence. She was born on December 4, 1929 in Galesburg, IL a daughter of the late James A. & Bessie I. Smith Lincoln. She married Othmer C. Johnes on June 15, 1948 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Rushville, IL. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1997. She is survived by (4) daughters; Sharen K. Ingles, Denise "De" A. Morton, both of Rushville, IL, Lisa M. Creasey (Jan) of Springfield, IL, Lori A. Sagar of Chepachet, RI (7) grandchildren; Thomas J. Ingles (Amy), Hallie Renee Cawthon (Ryan Settles), Chad W. Ingles (Ashlee Coyle), Corey M. Ingles (Andrea), Jamie M. Thompson (Marty), Shannon N. Morton (Thomas Plate), Justin W. Creasey (Jennifer), (15) great grandchildren, Jacob Ingles (Mariah Silva), Katelyn Ingles, Hannah Spencer-Ingles, Hunter Ingles (Larissa Smith), Chloe Ingles, Zachary Cawthon (Paige Sergerson), Kylie DeWitt (Ryan), Dillon Ingles (Ashley), Cody Ingles (Kylie Artcher), Ian Mellor, Nicholas Mellor, Austin Lane, Ivy Lane, Mac Creasey, Quinn Creasey, (9) great-great grandchildren, Addison DeWitt, Aubree DeWitt, Ory DeWitt, Archie Ingles, Ella Cawthon, Ryker Cawthon, Aubrey Garcia, Parker Ingles, Hazel Ingles, (2) nephews; James Lincoln, Van Coles. She was preceded in death by (1) grandson; Jeremiah Creasey, (1) brother; Doren A. Lincoln, (1) sister; Donna M. Coles, (1) niece; Loretta Lincoln, (1) son-in-law; Tom Sagar. Shirley graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1948. In early years she worked at the apple factory in Calhoun County. She was a CNA at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for 35 years, where she especially enjoyed working in the maternity ward. She was a member of the Rainbow Gardening Club and volunteered at the Senior Center. She liked taking bank bus trips, collecting bells and playing cards, especially pitch. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting and drinking wine with her daughters. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or Cass-Schuyler Hospice.
