Shirley Diane Kirby

Ms. Shirley Diane Kirby, age 68 of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 27, 2026 at her residence.

Shirley was born November 6, 1957 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Elmer R. and Willie Dorothy Stoglin Kirby. Shirley was an apartment manager for 45 years, managing apartments at Knollcrest, Churchill Drive and McMinnville. Her managerial role helped her develop helpful handyman skills that she implemented around her own home, finding enjoyment in building and fixing things. In addition, she enjoyed fishing and will be fondly remembered for her enjoyment of a good cup of coffee.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers, James Edward Kirby, Jeff Kirby and Randal Keith Kirby, Sr.; sister Betty Kirby and brother-in-law Chuck Frasier.

Survivors include her daughter Tracy Kirby

Grandson: Kalin Spivey and fiancé Jennifer Lopez

Brothers: Terry Kirby, David Kirby

Sisters: Becky Frasier, Jamie Kirby and Karla Kirby

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Rice Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Thomas McCulley will officiate.

Tyler Mabe, Jonathan Mabe, Johnny Mabe, David Kirby, Jason Kirby and Michael Kirby will serve as pallbearers.
