Shirley Kuntz Visitation at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home
Send FlowersShirley J. Kuntz, 89 of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Morristown Manor.
Born on May 31, 1936 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Donald E. Pickett and Virginia (Hendricks) Pickett. She married Stanley E. Kuntz on June 24, 1955 and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2014.
Survivors include 1 son- Todd A. Kuntz (Rebecca) of Waldron; 2 grandchildren-Jennifer Wamsley (Benjamin) of Waldron, Janeen Burkhart (Tom) of Greensburg; and 4 great grandchildren – Addy & Luke Wamsley and Ethan & Emma Burkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Stanley, and brother Donald R. Pickett.
Shirley had lived in this area her entire lifetime and graduated from Waldron High School in 1954.
She had worked for Monte Glove company for a few years, then as head teller and bank officer for Shelby National Bank, Bank One, and Chase Bank for many years, and had worked in the Shelby County Treasurer's Office for several years. Shirley was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church, Norristown Eastern Star and served on the Lewis Creek Cemetery Board.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, dancing, camping, horseback riding, ceramics, needlepoint and floral arranging. In Shirley's own words " Our son and daughter in law blessed us with twin girls in 1982 which are a total delight. My life has been so great and I thank God for a wonderful family which is my great wealth."
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Lewis Creek Baptist Church, 1400 E. 600 S, Waldron, IN with Pastor Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Memorial contributions can be made to Lewis Creek Baptist Church or Brighton Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
