Shirley McDonald

May 29, 1944 - October 12, 2025

Shirley L. McDonald, age 81, passed away on October 12th, at Burlington Hospital. She was born on May 29, 1944, to Earl and Gladys (nee: Neuman) Sauer.

Shirley loved her family and friends deeply and was truly a people person. She found joy in gathering with family. She had an adventurous spirit and a passion for nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed bird watching, hiking, and spending time outdoors. She also loved animals and expressed her creativity through sketching and crocheting.

Shirley is survived by her children, Tammy Mitchell, Patrick (Shari) McDonald, and Susan (Jeff) Pieters; her grandchildren, John Mitchell Jr., Jalee (Alyssa) McDonald, Jessa McDonald, Michael P. (Melissa) McDonald; her great granddaughter, Evelyn Maureen, and her siblings, Carol Rotheray and Earl (Dawn) Sauer.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Michael S. McDonald.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 11 to 1 p.m. at Miller Reesman Funeral Home. Burial at St. Mary Cemetery will follow.

Shirley's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pinebrook Pointe for their kindness and compassionate care.
