Shirley Jean McEneny
Vancouver, WA – Shirley Jean McEneny, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dedicated community member, passed away on May 6, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 87.
Born on February 25, 1938, in Naches, Washington, to Harold and Tonnie (Ingbretsen) Dobie, Shirley lived a life of purpose and kindness. She dedicated her professional life to education as a cherished teacher and an enthusiastic cheerleading coach, positively influencing countless young lives. Beyond the classroom, Shirley was renowned for her green thumb, finding immense joy and tranquility as a gardener. Her kitchen was a warm, inviting space where her delicious cooking brought family and friends together. A devout woman, Shirley also gave generously of her time as a church volunteer, embodying her faith through service.
Shirley is survived by her husband of many years, Duane McEneny; her son, Shane McEneny (Sherry); her sister, Dorothy Dobie; and her adored grandchildren, Shon McEneny, Hannah Brusseau, Shelby McEneny, and Kayla Brusseau. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Tonnie Dobie; her brother, Harold Dobie; her sister, Nancy (Dobie) Wilson; and her cherished daughter, Shannon (McEneny) Brusseau.
A memorial service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 805 SE Ellsworth Rd., Vancouver, Washington 98664. Father Tom Warne will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirley's memory to either Good Shepherd Montessori or the Humane Society, organizations close to her heart.
Shirley's gentle spirit, warm smile, and enduring dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
