Charles Dailey (1930 - 2025)
Charles Dailey was born Joseph Charles Handley on November 6, 1930, in Sacramento, California, to Joseph C. Handley and Eva (English) Handley. He was adopted by Berdie Mae Dailey in Sacramento, and in June 1948, he changed his surname. Two months later he was baptized by preacher Rodney Reyman. He fell in love with Rodney's sister, Lois Jean Reyman, and they married in San Jose on August 17, 1950.
Charles graduated from San Jose Bible College in 1951. In 1955, he joined The Minnehaha Church of Christ in Vancouver, Washington, where he served as minister for 35 years and touched countless lives. He was an early adopter of computers, buying his first in 1979.
In 1994, Charles and Lois traveled to Harare, where he taught at Zimbabwe Christian College for a quarter.
He obtained a Master's degree from Liberty University and, in 2004, was awarded an honorary doctorate from Northwest College of the Bible where he had taught for nearly 50 years.
He wrote a history of the pioneer Restoration Churches in the Northwest, and he published an autobiography online.
At the age of 80, he was blessed to meet relatives from his birth mother's family and see her photograph for the first time.
Charles was called to heaven from his home in Vancouver on October 10, 2025. He was preceded in death by an infant son in 1952, his son Jay Charles in 1971, and his wife Lois in 2019. He is survived by his daughters Bonnie M. Wells of Seattle, Carol J. Rodda of Seattle, Joy L. Kubow of Vancouver, Washington, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
