Shirley Meek, 89, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. She was born on May 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Amos H. Mitchell and the late Clara Bell Warren Mitchell.
Shirley’s love for her family was a defining aspect of her life. She was not only a wonderful caregiver and she was always attentive to the needs of those around her. Shirley was a dedicated and hardworking individual. Her work ethic remained strong throughout her lifetime. Shirley also found joy in the outdoors. She loved being on the water, especially boating or fishing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Pierce Meek; daughter, Sheila Watkins; brothers, Gary Mitchell and Charles Mitchell; sisters, Isabell Zolnik, Jackie Mitchell and Bonnie Moesnner.
She is survived by her sister, Alice Black of Menlo, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Bethel Methodist Church in Paulding County.
Shirley Ophelia Meek will be remembered with respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy is one of love, care, and unwavering dedication—a testament to a life well lived.
