Shirley Jean (Matz) Nichols, 76 of St. Clairsville, formerly of Bridgeport passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, at UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh surrounded by her family. She was born July 22, 1949, in Martins Ferry, the daughter of the late Agnes Kathryn (Keith) Matz.

Shirley was a homemaker, and the heart of her family, a constant source of strength, and the one person you could always count on to be on your side no matter what. She loved her Lord Jesus and is now resting in the arms of her Savior.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jessica Lynne Frame, sister, Beth Jackson, and brother, Whillie E. Matz, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeannine Zanol of VA., Susan Richard, of St. Clairsville, Steven (Sarah) Bliss, Jr., of Barnesville, grandchildren, Ashley, Jasmine, Donald, Suzan, Spencer, Avery, 7 great-grandchildren, siblings, Paul Matz, Linda Lang, Robert Phillips, and Jackie Kiamanesh.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 11-1 and 4-6pm at the Wilson Funeral Home-Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Funeral Service will be at 6pm officiated by Rev. James Hoff. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Riverview Cemetery.
