Shirley J. Nietubicz, age 87, of Monroe, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 in her home.
Shirley was born in Monroe, to Bayard and Alma (McMichael) Nelson on June 17, 1935. She married Phillip Nietubicz April 27, 1963.
After graduating from Monroe High School in 1953, Shirley worked at Bell Telephone, DePue Insurance Agency and for many years she was self employed as a medical transcriptionist before her retirement.
She was very active and enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Phillip Nietubicz; three daughters, Sandra Jean (Brett) Ansel, Susan Jean (Roger) Russell and Stacy Jean (Kenneth) Schroeder; eight grandchildren, Grant Ansel, Callie Lawson, Missie Radabaugh, Kyle Russell, Luke Russell, Lauren Russell, Blake Schroeder and Mia Schroeder; seven great grandchildren, Grace Ansel, Josie Ansel, Anna Ansel, Hayes Lawson, Macie Radabaugh, Cole Radabaugh and Reese Radabaugh.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Nelson and a great grandson Boone Lawson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Craig Killinen, pastor of Bridgepoint Church, will officiate. Private burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Heartbeat of Monroe.
