In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Painter-Cox
November 28, 1971 – September 17, 2025
Shirley Ann Painter-Cox, a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many, completed her earthly journey on September 17, 2025.
Shirley was born in Corpus Christi Texas, November 28, 1971, to John Shirley Painter and Katherine Luana Kapahu. She graduated from Flour Bluff High School, Class of 1989 and received her Associates of Applied Sciences from Del Mar College in 2018.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Elmer. Shirley would have moved the moon for Angela and wanted nothing but the best of things for her.
She is also survived by her husband, Aaron Cox. They were married February 1, 2008, but had been together since 2002 – a total of 23 years. He was always a constant and devoted loving husband.
Shirley enjoyed going to concerts, going to see movies, Renaissance festivals, being at the beach, and perusing through the many booths at any art/craft market. She had embraced her Hawaiian heritage through performing with the Aloha Luaus Dance Studio and loved every minute of it. She remained a devoted Hornet by attending many high school football games with her loving husband. But most of all, she loved being around people whether it be with her extensive family or many close friends. She was quiet but had a beautiful laugh – she had a warm smile which was genuine and loving. She truly brought everyone around her together.
She was employed at South Texas Medical Associates under Dr. Samuel D. Oloyo. She loved working with all her co-workers, and the time she spent with them.
Left to cherish memories of her: Ester Painter (mother), Sisters - Elizabeth Painter, Vada Painter, Joyce Painter and her husband Daniel - their children Finley and Vivian. Brian Cox (brother-in-law) and his wife Andrea Drum-Cox with their children Jasmine and Nevaeh. Rachel Thurman (sister-in-law) and her husband Adam with their children Raegan and Caroline. Sarah Hickey (bestest) and her husband Michael Molohon. Amanda Hickey (niece) and her husband Tico Terrazas, Shane (nephew) and his wife Danielle Hickey with their children Alanna, Asher, and Ryder. Close friends: Michael Martinez and Crystal Dunbar.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Cattery, a cause Shirley truly cared about.
