Shirley Marie Perr, age 90, of Ripon, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Prairie Place in Ripon, with her family by her side.
Shirley was born on August 11, 1935 in Fond du Lac, WI, daughter of Leonard and Hazel Wiegert. She attended Ripon Public Schools and in 1955 married Richard Perr. Early on Shirley worked at the Movie Theater, the Ripon Pickle Factory, Brauns Restaurant, the Eagles Club and Campbells Women’s Clothing. During her final years of employment, she worked for the Group Home in Ripon.
Shirley was a very special person and was loved by all who met her. In her younger years most weekends were spent playing cards with friends. She truly enjoyed spending time with family and was known for her baking and cooking. At Christmas everyone looked forward to her Cut-out cookies and in the summer no cookout would be complete without her famous potato salad. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed reading, doing word search books and listening to Elvis. And during the last year and a half at Prairie Place she made many new friends, not only the residents but the caregivers as well. She always had a story to tell about how kind everyone was to her.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Joan (Jon) Erdmann of Nekoosa, WI, Susan (DuWayne) Wichman of Ripon, WI, and Cindy (Ken) Dobrowolski of Green Lake, WI; four grandsons, Jeremy (Aimee) Meyer of Fond du Lac, WI, Kevin (Megan) Meyer of Menasha, WI, Adam (Shawn Langel) Erdmann of Waunakee, WI and Michael Wichman of Ripon, WI; four great-grandchildren, Ian, Wesley, Emma, and Dekker Meyer of Menasha, WI. In addition she is survived by three sisters, June Dunn of Sheboygan, WI, Christine Krueger of Ripon, WI and Chirie (Steve) Neils of Elkhart Lake, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Leonard and Hazel Wiegert; five sisters, Geraldine Lambert, Joyce Freeze, Jean Ammeter, Carol Miller, and Alvina Drumm; and two brothers, Leonard and Terrence Wiegert.
Per Shirley’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Cremation will be handled by Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home.
Shirley’s family would like to thank Dr. Stephanie Glod along with Katie and Clarissa for the wonderful care they provided over the years. And a very special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Prairie Place. Each and everyone of you had a special place in mom’s heart. Your loving care and concern means more than you will ever know. And a special thank you to the Hospice team. Even though you were with mom for only a short time your kindness and support meant so much.
