Shirley Poissant Obituary
Shirley P. (Cote) Poissant, 89, of Woonsocket, passed away May 1, 2025 in the HopeHealth Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Maurice R. Poissant. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rosilda (Dubois) Cote.
Mrs. Poissant worked as an inspector for Boston Scientific. She taught knitting classes at the Blackstone Library, belonged to a widowers support group, and enjoyed sewing, dancing, traveling, and spending time camping at Cape Cod.
She leaves her daughters, Doreen Sawyer of Woonsocket, and Sandra Gallant and her husband, Peter, of Oakland, RI; her sister, Jeannette Petit of Johnston; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her long time companion Walter Royley of Lincoln; and her grand dog, Maggie. She was the sister of the late Ernest, Edward, Arthur, and Robert Cote, Rachel Fontaine, and Theresa Desjardins.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Divine Mercy Parish, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
