Shirley Ann Powers, age 76 of Valdosta, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026. She was born on May 4, 1949, in Adel, GA to parents Welburn Martin Fender and Ida Bell Browning Fender.
She was a dedicated inspector who took great pride in her work at Dowling Bag and Levi’s. Known for her strong work ethic and careful attention to detail, she approached her job with commitment and pride. Outside of work, she found great joy in her faith and loved attending church at Grace Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and spending peaceful days fishing, simple pleasures that brought her happiness and relaxation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Powers; sisters, Jean Morrell and Geneva Bennett; brothers, Bobby Joe Fender and W. M (Louise) Fender.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Judy Ann Smith (Rodney) of Valdosta, GA; son, Billy Ray Powers (Dana) of Valdosta, GA; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and sisters Lois Henderson of Moultrie, GA and Louise Ross of Moultrie, GA
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com. The Powers family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services fo Valdosta.
