Shirley A. (Bower) Reinert, 86, of Longswamp Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in her daughter Deb's Richmond Township residence. She was the loving wife of Donald R. Reinert, whom she married on June 29, 1957.
Born in the village of Shamrock, Longswamp Township, Shirley was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Lillian E. (Reppert) Bower and attended Longswamp High School. She was employed as a seamstress by the former Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis, and the former General Seating and Sash Co., Topton. Shirley loved to cook and bake, making many treats for her family over the years. She also liked shopping, country music and attending country music concerts. Above all, Shirley loved spending time and making memories with her family and friends. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
In addition to her husband of 68 years Donald, Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Raeanne (Reinert), wife of James J. Roth, Kutztown, and Debra L. (Reinert), wife of Joseph L. Heffner, Richmond Township; three grandchildren, Emily (Heffner) Smith, Alyssa (Roth) Lopuski and Ryan Roth; and two great-grandchildren, Owen Jacob Smith and Max Theodore Smith.
Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her grandson, Jacob J. Heffner, on November 20, 2014; and brothers, Kenneth L. Bower in 2003, Donald C. Bower in 2023 and Robert C. Bower in 2024.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 E. Weis Street, Topton, PA, with The Reverend Martin Milne officiating. Burial will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made in Shirley's memory to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or online at www.alz.org.
