Shirley Virginia Johnson Richardson, 81, wife of Lloyd Lee Richardson, passed away at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC surrounded by her loving family on November 5, 2025.

A daughter of the late James Norton and Ruby Estelle Richardson Johnson, Shirley was born on March 23, 1944, in Hemingway, South Carolina. Shirley lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep gratitude for those around her.

Shirley dedicated nearly four decades of her professional life to JP Stevens/Delta Mills, where she worked as a quality control inspector from 1967 until the company's closure in 2005. Her diligence and commitment to excellence were recognized when she was named Employee of the Year in 1994-an honor that reflected not only her meticulous nature but also the respect she earned from colleagues throughout her career.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shirley was known for her love of sewing and her remarkable attention to detail. Her hands were rarely still, always cooking or working in her yards with precision. Shirley had a gift for hospitality with nothing bringing her more joy than gathering people together in her home. With over fifty chairs arranged inside and out, Shirley's home was a welcoming haven for friends and family alike-a place where laughter echoed and memories were made.

Shirley's gentle spirit touched many lives. She was meek yet strong, kind without condition, loving without limit. Her grateful heart shone through in every interaction, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, Shirley is survived by a daughter, Teresa Gayle Richardson (Tim) Kingsford; a son, Lloyd Lee "Buddy" (Leslie) Richardson, II; cherished grandchildren, Lloyd Lee "Tripp" Richardson III, Mary Evelyn "Ellie" Richardson, and Hampton Lee Kingsford; sister, Ruby Jane Richardson, Betty Lou Richardson, Myrtle Lee Coker, Elaine Everett, Tricia Harrelson; brother, Ronnie Johnson; and a faithful fur-child, Dixie. Shirley will also be missed by her special niece, Jenny Ayers, and two special nephews, Kenny Roberts and Ryan Richardson to whom she acted as surrogate mother after the loss of their own Mothers.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceeded in death by her brother Norton Junior Johnson and her sister Genevieve Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, will take place in the Old Neck Cemetery, 400 Old Neck Cemetery Road, Brittons Neck, SC, 29546 following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to Old Neck Cemetery, PO Box 8, Brittons Neck, SC, 29546.
