Obituary
Shirley Ann Ruby (92) of Indianapolis, Indiana died peacefully in her sleep at home, on November 9, 2023.
She was born July 26, 1931, in Indianapolis to the late Luther E and Christina E (Off) Johnson.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Shirley also enjoyed feeding and watching her hummingbirds. She, along with her loving husband John, also enjoyed the many trips they took all over the country with their many friends at Top Notch Travel Agency. She took singing and piano lessons in her youth and loved music. She would never miss any production of “The Sound of Music.” She enjoyed working out and walking in her younger years. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was always working a jigsaw puzzle.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Della Mae Pickard, her brother Walter Johnson and her son, John Joseph Ruby Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years John J Ruby; Daughter Tamyra K. (Bert) Pettygrove; sons, Mark W. (Marilyn) and James E. (Sherrie) Hansen. Shirley has five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North Funeral Center, 2706 Kessler Blvd, W. Dr in Indianapolis 46228 (317-251-5959), on Wednesday November 15th at 12 noon, with calling from 10am to the service time. Inurnment will take place at Washington Park North Cemetery at a later date.
