Shirley L. Rupert

Shirley L. Rupert, 95, of Washington, formerly of East Peoria, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born in Farmington on November 4, 1930, to Guido and Daisy (Eichmann) Bertolero, then married Jack Rupert on May 30, 1953. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage until Jack passed away on July 30, 1988.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael; her daughter, Kim; and her brother, William.

She is survived by her children, William Rupert of Morton and Melissa (Arthur) Svymbersky of Champaign; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Shirley began her career at Caterpillar, then later dedicated over twenty years working as a secretary at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria before retiring.

Family was always Shirley's first priority. She found great joy in preparing meals for her loved ones, cherishing the moments when she could bring everyone together around the table. Nothing made her happier than seeing the big smiles on their faces as they shared these special times together.

Shirley had the opportunity to travel extensively and explore many parts of the world. Of all the destinations she visited, Greece was her favorite. She especially enjoyed the pizza.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Father John Steffen will officiate. Private burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
