Shirley Mae (Burns) Seyferth, 87, of Sparta, IL; born on January 26, 1937 in Sparta, IL; the daughter of John Earl and Bessie Maple (Wilson) Burns; passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL.
Shirley married Charles Douglas Seyferth on January 10, 1958 in Sparta, IL. She was a housewife and worked at Smith's, Ben Franklin's, Tim's Place, and the Sparta Senior Center. Shirley was a member of the Sparta Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Bethel Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four children – David Charles (Barbara) Seyferth of Sparta, IL, Paul Douglas Seyferth of Fayetville, NC, Roger Dale (Michelle) Seyferth of Sparta, IL, Daniel Paul Seyferth of Sparta, IL; nine grandchildren – Robert (Tammy) Wagner, Amanda (Lance) Hines, Brandon (Holly) Seyferth, Susan Seyferth, Ashley (Jason) Westenberger, Brittany Wanless, Jonathon Seyferth, Jessica Marks, and Calysia Hoskens; seven great grandchildren – Anna, Madison, Mando, Ares, Niklaus, Faithlynn and Nathan; two sisters-in-law – Kathryn Burns and Donna Young; several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband – Charles Douglas Seyferth who passed away in 1987; parents; two great grandsons – Hunter Daniel Seyferth and Colton Wanless; three brothers – Harold Earl Burns, Clyde Williams Burns, and Lee Edward Burns; two sisters – Dorothy Louise Burns Bilane and Flora Mae Burns; daughter-in-law – Gabriele Seyferth; sister-in-law – Linda Snider; nephews – Larry Edward Burns and Keith Charles Bilane; nieces – Phyliss Presswood and Barbara Burns.
The Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 18, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024. Committal services will be held at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL.
