Mrs. Shirley Hope Shadler of Mill Rift, PA a Homemaker, died December 24, 2025 at Milford Senior Care & Rehabilitation Center in Milford, PA. She was 102.
She was born April 17, 1923 in St. John's, Newfoundland the daughter of the late Alexander Jamieson and the late Violet Anthony Jamieson.
Shirley married Frank Shadler on August 20th, 1945 in Port Jervis, NY, and they were married for 54 years prior to his passing on May 12, 1999.
She worked at the family hotel called Colinet Hotel in Saint John's, Newfoundland and later in life was very happy to be at home to raise her children.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Port Jervis, NY. Shirley also taught Sunday School in Newfoundland. Shirley was a very loving Mother, Grand Mother to Ryan and Daniel and Great Grand Mother to Mason who all brought peace, comfort and love to her heart. She was an avid lover of nature and wildlife. She believed that the secret to longevity was a diet of fish, no red meat, lots of walking and of course; chocolate. She loved music and shopping. Shirley loved to dance. Earlier in life she was a member of a Dance Group in Newfoundland which she always referred to as the "Jukebox-Saturday Night Dancing Group" She received her angel wings a very long time ago and you will be forever missed.
Surviving are: Son: John Shadler of Mill Rift, PA Grandsons: Ryan Shadler and his life partner Jessica and Daniel Shadler and his life partner Cassie. Great Grandson: Mason Shadler Also several nieces and nephews Shirley was predeceased by her 2 sons: Ronald Shadler and Robert Shadler; her daughter, Joan Steel and her son-in-law Malcolm "Mac" Steel. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ruth Rosencrance, and her 2 Sisters-In-Law: Mary Ellen Shadler Krause, Lillian Shadler.
There will be no visitation and funeral services will be held private at the convenience of the family.
