So saddened to learn of Shirley´sWe were truly blessed to get to know Shirley when we moved in next-door. I really enjoyed comparing gardening notes with her. And that fudge sauce...! We will miss Shirley´s beautiful smile and our frequent over-the-fence conversations. Our condolences to Ed and the family. I love seeing the pictures that have been posted.

I was heartbroken to hear of Shirley´s passing. She was a friend, a second mother and a godly mentor to me. Shirley taught me so much on how to show God´s love to others. It was the way she lived her life every day. Love and miss you Shirley!

Shirley was a young mom when I met her in 1959. Through the years she was my friend, mentor, and for 14 years, my wonderful neighbor on Brighton Place. Many times in my life, I chose my response to a problem by thinking "what would Shirley do'? We who knew Shirley were blessed by this extraordinary child of God.

I was very saddened to learn of Shirley's passing. I first met Shirley when the new CHILD program was starting at Clearbrook in 1974. My daughter, Katie, was in the first class that Shirley taught. She had such positive and fun ideas for helping our children with special needs. She supported us and showed us the gifts our children could give to us. She encouraged and offered hope for the future. I kept in contact with Shirley even after my daughter passed at age 29 in 2005. She was a wonderful woman, wife, mother, teacher and mentor to so many of us. She was truly one of my "heroes" and a special lady. She lived a full life and now may she rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. Condolences to Ed and the family.

such a wonderful great aunt. aunt shirley was always smiling and oh so positive and caring. i remember going to arlington heights for family dinners, cookouts and parades - even camping together.

my earliest memory is a trip to visit and i got a marble stuck in my throat as we were driving to their house (it was expelled before we arrived). aunt shirley made hot chocolate for my sore throat.

we will miss you!

We were saddened to hear of Aunt Shirley's passing. She was a kind, smart, caring person who maintained a positive attitude regardless of the situation. We will miss her.

One fond memory to share. At holiday meals, Aunt Shirley would often prepare a new dish that she found in a magazine. This break from traditional fare seemed odd to my grammar-school self, but the results were always good.
