She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Jesusita Stauffer; sisters, Ardist Merritt, Janice Bosanic, and Arva Stauffer; and brothers, Lee and Bob Stauffer.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Roger Stauffer; sisters, Ardelle Klein and Karen (David) Torres; brother-in-law, Mike Merritt; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Born in Belding and raised in Lowell, Shirley graduated from Lowell High School. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and found great joy in nature, crafting, painting, shopping, and music. Throughout her life, Shirley had a special love for black cats, many of whom she cherished as pets.
Shirley will be fondly remembered for her sweet spirit, gentle heart, and delightful sense of humor that often surprised those around her.
Memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, 1120 Knapp St. NE, Suite B, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's of Lowell at a later date.
