Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Shirley Johnson Stephenson, age 87 of Smithfield passed away on June 17, 2024 at UNC Johnston Health. Graveside Services will be 10:00AM Friday, June 21, 2024 at Hills of the Neuse Memorial Gardens in Smithfield. Rev. Walter Gaskins will officiate.
Shirley was born on August 15, 1936 in Johnston County, NC to the late Albert Dewey Johnson and Fannie Davis Johnson. She was preceded in death her husband, Leon “L.D” Stephenson as well as her sisters, Lois Johnson Lee and Willa Mae Harvester; a great grandson, Antwane Hunter. Shirley was a retired supervisor from Champion Products where she worked for over 30 years. She loved to garden, paint, and collect what knots. One of her very favorite things to do was cook for her family. Shirley was a lifelong member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Four Oaks. One of her greatest joys was being a Nana to all the little ones in the family.
Surviving are her son, Dewey Stephenson and wife, Pat of Smithfield; grandchildren, Melissa Dunston and husband, Tony of Smithfield, and Michelle Sealey of Smithfield; great grandchildren, Star Sealey and partner, Lavaris, Alexis Dunston and Aris Dunston; great-great grandchildren, Khi, Karter, Drew and Nevaeh.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20 from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC.
