Mrs. Shirley Ann Taylor, age 86, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 5:48 AM at The Hospice House in Bowling Green, KY.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will continue on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson County, KY.
Shirley was born on January 18, 1939 in Belmont, MS to the late Thomas B. Mitchell Sr. and the late Evie Lou (Pharr) Mitchell. She is also preceded in death by her spouse, Gene Taylor; 1 son, Johnny Taylor; and 5 siblings, Eulalar Mitchell, Sylivia Mitchell, Violet Mitchell, Flavis Nelson Mitchell, Thomas “Tommy” Mitchell, Jr.
She is survived by 2 sons, Ricky Taylor (Kathleen) of Kenosha, WI and Thomas Troy Taylor (Becky) of Franklin, KY; 8 grandchildren, Chris Taylor, Cody Taylor (Jessica), Casey Taylor (Jackie), Sara Wallace (Terry), Nicole Salmon (JP), Kayla Crossfield, CJ Hunter (Erica), Ryan Hunter (Brianna); and 10 great-grandchildren.
Shirley attended Franklin Community Church. She loved to go square dancing at Long Hollow Jamboree and loved to cook and feed people. Dancing was just her thing.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
