Shirley Timmons, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born on November 11, 1955, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Paul Motto and Betty L. Kiefer Motto. She graduated from William Penn High School in 1973 and spent many years devoted to raising her children. She later built a career as a police dispatcher with the Delaware River and Bay Authority, serving for 25 years before retiring in 2022.

Shirley was known for her fierce independence, loving nature, and unwavering loyalty to her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. Whether it was lacrosse, wrestling, baseball, volleyball, or cheerleading, she was always there, cheering them on and celebrating their every achievement. She treasured time spent on family vacations and found her greatest joy in being together, especially during Christmas, her favorite time of year. She will be forever remembered as a loving mother, Grammy, daughter, sister, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Crombie; and her brother, William Motto.

She is survived by her loving children, Shayne Timmons (Kristi) of Middletown, Brian Timmons (Terry) of Wilmington, and Kimberly Boone (John) of Clayton; her cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Chase, and Alyssa Timmons, Jillian and Hayley Timmons, and Olivia Boone. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Motto; her sisters, Joan Marvel (Bill), Norma Zion (Rick), and Evelyn Motto; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Inurnment will be held privately.
