Richard L. Pinder, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026

Dick was born on May 30, 1934, in New Castle, Delaware at his family home at 6th and Delaware Streets. He was the oldest child of George and Frances Piinder. He was predeceased by his sisters Beverly (Mick), Joan, and brother George Jr. (Carol). Richard lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, hard work, and the relationships he built throughout the years. A 1952 graduate of William Penn School where he played varsity football from 8th through 12th grade.

Richard dedicated 37 years of service as a U.S. Postal carrier, where he was known for his reliability, dedication, and friendly presence in the community he served.

Richard cherished time with his family and took great pride in participating in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He always enjoyed gardening, painting, wine making and watching the Yankees as well as the Bears. His ultimate joy was spending time at his beach house in Lewes Delaware and trips with his wife to Florida and California.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years. Maria A. Pinder; his children Michelle, Michael (Elaine), and Patrick (Suzanne); his grandchildren Brian, Stephen, and Kyle (Amy) Pinder; and his great-grandchildren, Adam and Julia Pinder. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

Richard's life and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Services will be private.
