Shirley Ann VanWinkle, 83, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026.

She was born on December 3rd, 1942, in Connersville, IN, to Henry Edgar and Betty Jean (Morgan) Hudson.

Shirley graduated from Bristow High School. On January 27th, 1962, she was united in marriage to Carol Dean VanWinkle. They shared 49 years of marriage before his passing in March of 2011. From this union were born two daughters, Cindy and Mary Beth VanWinkle.

During her working career, Shirley was employed at General Electric in Tell City, Scenic Hills and later retired from St. Meinrad Archabbey, both in Ferdinand, IN. She was a faithful member of Oak Ridge Apostolic Church of Bristow and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star #272.

She loved spending time with her dogs and playing UNO with her great-grandchildren, but above all, she cherished her family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Dean VanWinkle, her parents, Henry 'Peck' and Betty Jean Hudson, and a son-in-law, Mitch Hirsch.

Surviving are her two daughters, Cindy Ann (Keith) Culbertson of Bristow and Mary Beth (John) Nelson; five grandchildren, Derek (Cassie), Kandi (Ryan), Megan (Landon) and Tara (Cody) Culbertson and Dylan (Katie) Hirsch; Eleven great grandchildren, Ryker, Adelyn, and Brynley Culbertson, Clark Morton, Griffin and Emery Hoppes, Emma and Dean Schaefer, and Joseph, Julienne, and Eliza Hirsch, as well as her beloved dog, Abbie.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Oak Ridge Apostolic Church in Bristow, IN, with Pastor David Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Beard Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with a memorial service by the Order of Eastern Star at 6:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Oak Ridge Apostolic Church.
