Shirley June Walters, 91, of Paoli, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born on June 14, 1934, in Algiers, Indiana, to Joseph and Stella Morgan Tredway.
Shirley married Rev. James F. Walters on November 3, 1951. Together they raised four sons and shared 72 years of marriage before his passing on December 3, 2023.
As a devoted minister’s wife, Shirley lived in several Indiana communities, including Yankeetown, Eugene, Newport, Hopewell, Kokomo, and Paoli. Throughout these years, she remained actively involved in church life and community activities while raising her family.
Shirley enjoyed homemaking and a variety of pastimes, including motorcycle trips with her husband, watching IU basketball, playing cards with church friends, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Paoli Friends Meeting and the Orange County Women’s Club.
Shirley was Cherished and will be deeply missed by her survivors sons: William (Mona) of Piqua, Ohio; Mark (Cynthia) of Bloomington, Illinois; Brian (Melissa) of Evansville, Indiana; and Jon (Deonna) of Paoli, Indiana. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren 2 Great- Great Granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 West Campbell Street, Paoli, Indiana, with Mark Tope officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the service. Interment to be held at a later date at the Paoli Community cemetery
