Shirley Ann White, 85 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at her residence. Abiding by her, and her family’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service in South Sioux City will be held at a later date, with burial to follow in Ohio. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Shirley’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the Nebraska St. Croix Hospice for their amazing support and assistance.
Shirley was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee in 1940 to Burl and Mary (Wilson) Buchanan. Shirley moved with her family in her teens to Ohio and then ultimately moved to Iowa where she lived and raised her 3 children.
Her love for people was her strongest characteristic as she spent her life working in manager roles in the customer service industry. Shirley never met a stranger and made anyone she came in contact with an instant friend. Shirley was an avid reader, word search champion and a devoted Christian.
Shirley was a member of the 1st Presbyterian South Sioux City, Nebraska, where she served as a deacon and was best known for the heartfelt cards she would send to other church members, along with being a staple at church functions. Shirley was also an avid football fan of both NFL and College teams, which she loved to talk and debate about.
Shirley loved her family immensely and truly enjoyed family get-togethers. There was never a conversation that didn't involve her speaking or bragging about her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Shirley's quick wit and sense of humor along with her continued support will be missed by her family very much. Shirley gained an additional family with the Palm Regency Care Center where she made lasting friendships and received amazing care.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Velvet (Mark) of Jefferson South Dakota and their daughters Hailey (Kurt) of Denver, Colorado, Lindsey (Mike) and Kelsey (Kyle) of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Monica of South Sioux City, Nebraska and her daughter Original and sons Michael and Jacob of Sioux City, Iowa and a son Russell (Larke) of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and brothers Jim “Buck” (Pat) and Larry (Sharon).
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert “Bob”.
