Shirley May Willett born on September 16, 1933 to Della and Peter Fleming. She is survived by her husband Peter D. Willett who she married March 2, 1957 and celebrated 67 happy years together.
Peter and Shirley shared laughter, friendship, dancing, and a partnership rooted in love. Shirley made Peter the best version of himself. Shirley was the love of Peter's life.
Shirley was the beloved mother to Bret (Carolyn Willett), Brenda (Ron Skubisz), and Glenn (Tanya Willett). Shirley was the epitome of what defines motherhood - love, direction, friendship, and the unwavering support necessary to make her children successful.
Bret (her favorite child) left this world too soon. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Margaret Fleming, her brother, James Fleming, and her nephew, James Fleming.
She was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth, Ron, Katie, Jackson, Hayden, Tanner, and Nicholas. Shirley's special joy was time with her great-grandchildren - Ollie, Sophie, Rory, and Hunter. She most loved family gatherings whether in her original house in Sauk Village, later home in Saint Charles, in Charlotte, NC or on Kiawah Island, SC.
Shirley had a lifelong friendship with her sister-in-law, Fran Fleming, raising their families together. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews - Jimmy, Jeanne, Donna, Linda, Laura, Michael, and Carol.
Shirley raised a close-knit family rooted in love and closeness. Her unwavering dedication to her family and others earned her the affectionate title of "Saint Shirley."
May those who loved her find comfort in the enduring legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
