SHIRLEY WILSON Obituary
SHIRLEY WILSON
Shirley Lee Wilson, a compassionate, dedicated, loving, and supportive force of warmth, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on July 10, 1934, in Madison, Indiana, to Frances West and Clyde Strong Sr., Shirley's life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and love. She married the love of her life, Jerry "Blackie" Wilson, on April 29, 1953, with whom she shared 42 years of unforgettable moments until his passing in 1995.
Shirley's professional life was as remarkable as her personal life. Her career as a Loan Officer at First National Bank showcased her dedication and commitment. Later, she retired from UAW Local 662 in 1989, marking a well-deserved culmination to her illustrious career. Despite her professional commitments, Shirley made time for her interests. She was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Elwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Women's Euchar Club, St. Bernadet's Study Club, and a proud Red Hat. An avid reader, passionate traveler, and devoted Colts fan, Shirley's life was as vibrant and varied as the interests she pursued.
Family was the cornerstone of Shirley's life, and she is survived by her beloved children, Patrick (Tracey) Wilson, Michael (Julie) Wilson, Terri Beach, and Cassie (Raul) Garcia. Her memory will also live on in her grandchildren, Tarrik (Natalie) Wilson, Jessica Harrison, Kisha (Tony) Goyer, Chelsey (Matt) Shuler, Dakin Beach, Zack (Sheena) Wilson, Cody (Jennifer) Wilson, and 10 great-grandchildren with one arriving in November who brought her immeasurable joy.
Special neice Jerri Lynn Boswell and her special lifelong friend Sue Mitroff. Several nieces and nephews.
She now joins her parents, husband, and siblings, Phyllis McDaniel, Clyde Strong Jr., Roseann Youngblood, and Alford Garner, in restful peace.
Visitation for Shirley Wilson will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, Indiana. A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Adam Mauman. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
