Shyrl Lynn Marston 63, of Prince Edward County, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Marston. She is survived by her mother, Jean Marston; two brothers, Kendall Marston (Kim) and Darryl Marston (Lori); nieces, Kayla, Autumn (Timothy), Ashley, and Aaryn; and nephews, Kameron (Emily) and Austin.
A proud honor graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Shyrl considered becoming a nurse her proudest accomplishment. She spoke often—and with great pride—about this achievement, gladly sharing with anyone who would listen how meaningful her career was to her. Nursing was not only her profession but her calling, and she found purpose and fulfillment in caring for others.
Her life was anchored in faith as a devoted Christian and lifelong member of Douglas Presbyterian Church. Shyrl also delighted in life’s simple joys—her love of flowers, her journaling, and her treasured books. She had a tender heart for animals, especially her beloved cat, Buttons.
A celebration of Shyrl’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Douglas Presbyterian Church. Family visitation will be from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Shorter Funeral Home of Farmville, Virginia, is respectfully serving the Marston family.
